Getting an old junker 2 stroke 4 wheel for free around thansgiving, the 2 strokes have a special rearend right? Because i was thinking of dropping in a 4 cycle but i need reverse.Also how exspensive is it to rebuild the 2 strokes?

Congrats on owning a superior 2-stroke powered EZGO (soon)! The engine is very easy to work on and rebuild. There are no valves, cam shafts, or timing belts to worry about.
The rear ends have the clutch input shaft perpendicular to the axle. The belt runs parallel to the axle. There is no reversing gear in it. Reverse is taken care of by reversing the starter generator and running the engine in the reverse direction. |

I think that you can stil still get the rebuild kits for these for around 200 or 250. This would included a new crank and all....

No big thing but...Your decribing a ring and pinion rear end, the later models 2 strokes have the helical gear rear end setup like those used in the 4 strokes only without reverse. It depends on what year the cart is as to which style it has.
