Question limo stock tire height " clutch and gears?"

ok finally rebuilt my motor 2001 350 .050 1inch shorter belt. runs pretty good now i found out how worn out it was. before with just me on it down hill it might hit the rev limiter. now with 4 adults on it up hill hits rev limiter. has anyone used stock height tires, machined clutch with 6to1 gears and still be able to haul 4 to 6 people respectable.

I doubt you will be able to handle the load with 6:1 gears, that's double what you have now. If you're considering a gear change, how about 8:1's (50% more).
The stock tires you have are in the 18" diameter range, a tire change to 20.5" would give you a little more speed without having to add a lift kit.

It really depends on where your going to be using it and how you define respectable. I haven't run them with different gears but i've put about every size tire on them which is pretty much the same as a gear change if you figure in some drag for the rotating mass of the tires. 6 to 1 is pretty extreme without adding any extra power. I doubt it would ever get to full speed unless going down a nice hill, it might go full speed on flat ground if your the only one in it and you weigh 150lb give or take some. with 4 to 6 people on it it'll probably crawl going up a good hill, like someone jogging or walking would be faster. of course this all depends on a bunch of different variables, the weight of the load, the incline your trying to go up, speed attacking the hill, wind direction and speed, etc, etc. Your really asking alot out of the little 11hp engine, perhaps you should be thinking hopping up your engine or a different engine to get the power and speed to do what you want. putting on a 295 head will add some hp but you'll still have the same gears and rev limiter. with a v-twin you should get plenty of speed and power without a gear change and you can sell the 350 to offset the cost, it's more $$$ but you'll grin like a possum every time you drive it.

thanks for the replies as you can see i don 't have any room left once i put the ramp door on my trailer i will look at putting a big block, the speed is not bad for me i just don t like the way it keeps hitting the rev limiter! oh by the way 18inch tires 350 limo 22mph not to bad to me

I know this will sound weird but if you can try a stock driven 36deg clutch on it or go back to the stock belt. that'll help keep it out of the rev limiter.
