How do I become street legal in TN?
Is it possible to make my cart street legal in Tennessee? I have googled my brains out trying to find the answer and I can't find it. Thanks, Keith

You need to go to your local tag agency and get their requirements. It's different in every state / county / city...

My local DMV? What's funny, is that little Toyota truck that's being imported is NOT street legal here, wonder how a golf cart could be!! Thanks, K

It's crazy for sure. There just isn't any "cookie cutter" list of requirements needed. It's up to each and every local issuing agency...

Re: How do I become street legal in TN?
First off, they won't let you tag a "golfcart". Don't say the word "golfcart". It is considered a LSV "Low Speed Vehicle". Tenn. does have a list of requirements for "LSV's". I hope this link will work.
http://www.dmv-department-of-motor-v...r_vehicles.htm The one thing that may hold you back is the VIN# Carts only have a serial # unless you buy a Tomberline or Star car. The only way you can get a vin# here in NC is the car has to be built by a licensed manufacturer. Hope this helps. Just remember, after you make the upgrades, It is not a "Golfcart" anymore it is a "Low Speed Vehicle". Ok the link worked, but in the search box you must type....Low Speed Vehicle. It can't happen then.. It'd just be nice to go one farm to the next on it, all within 2 miles...

It can be done just depending on how much you want to put into to make legal.

Re: How do I become street legal in TN?
When state inspects it to approve for lsv or msv they will issue a new vin #.
