EZGO workhorse ..good choice?
You guys have done a great job getting me excited about a buggy project. I have started searching for my first victim and hope your communities experience can keep me from making some mistakes. I have found a 2002 EZGO workhorse with a bad engine. The car is complete and in fair/good condition by my standards. It is a doner vehicle for what I hope to be a big block woods ride. I can pick it up for $500. Is this a fair price and is the unit a good candidate for a big twin swap? Is it more expensive to build vs. Yamaha or Club Car......?thanks for any help/advice.

Re: EZGO workhorse ..good choice?
To me that sounds like a good price for one. I am looking as well for a workhorse. And let me say they are not an easy find. I found several today but they are not exactly local to me.
I did see one sell for just over $2000 with a blown motor. That was way too high of a price in my opinion. I have been seeing good workhorses go for an average of $2500. FYI if you decide to not take that cart let me know, I would definately be interested. Good Luck |

I am committed now, or maybe should be committed. It is all there but not running, the robin engine smoked real bad when it was traded in on a new one. Let the hunt begin for more power!

Re: EZGO workhorse ..good choice?
Get this! Got the workhorse started with a jump and some starting fluid. The guy I bought it from was right. I killed every bug in a five mile radius with the smoke from the Robin 350. Started with some diagnosis by pulling plugs (Oil fouled) cleaned then checked spark (good). Removed muffler, full of oil. Oil level was correct with clean oil. Called the shop I bought it from and asked if they changed it. They did, plus fuel filter and air filter. Cleaned the muffler out with mineral spirits and reinstalled. Charged the battery and drove around the block with no smoke. My guess is some fool put too much oil in it. The shop condemmed the engine and "wholesaled" (not a real word) it to me. Now I need to go buy 2 tires
