Default welding gears in rear end

did anyone ever weld the gears in the rear end to make both wheels spin? Im curious about how much they push when you turn. Is it ok or just a pain to drive?

Search the forum and you'll see plenty of people that were sorry that they did it...

I imagine they would push to the point of being a p.i.a. We had a gator at work that had a rear locker on it and you could feel it pushing you ....... If you are gonna weld up some gears, You better clean them and preheat them The guys who have just started welding usually end up buying a new diff after everything starts breaking up

Its fine on the dirt as long as your not pulling a trailer or something heavy that takes the weight off the front tires. If your pulling a trailer and are on some loose gravel it wants to go straight. Makes it almost useless on the street. BUT its all the diffence in the world offroad. One of the better things I have done. My final verdict is its not good for a yard cart that gets used for utility use but is great only on a offroad only cart. If you go on the street at all then forget it. Limited slips are available but why limit the slip when you can stop it. Welding them isn't as hard as everyone makes it out to be. I put mine a cleaning solution then sprayed with brake cleaner and air hosed it off. Then just I just started welding the spider gears to each other and to the carrier pin. Not a hard process takes much longer just to pull the diff out and apart.

.... my experience was that at the top of a hill climb you had to go straight no left or right turning when the front was light???? Learn to drive good offroad & you will go just about anywhere a locker will go and maybe then some

We have a toro workman that has a mechanical differential lock. It definitely will not turn on grass with the diff locked. Well, you can do a half mile turnaround. If you're towing, forget it. No steering. It's good to have the option. It would be a PIA if you couldn't unlock it. That would be a cool "option" on a cart.
If you wanted to ever sell it, that would be a negative for most buyersNot many want off-road only..I'm not criticizing, it would be a blast off road in a cart.
