How to identify my ezgo/no tag
Hi, I just bought an ez-go gas cart today. Got it off craigslist with bill of sale. I asked if there was some kind of I.D # and he said no that he got the cart this way. I did a search and I now see where the tag would've been but is not.
So with all that out the way, I just paid 1500 for this and would like to know what year it is. This is what I know, it is(was) green with tan top. It is 2 cylinder and the engine says robins eh29c. Its an e-z-go txt. It runs pretty good. It takes a min to start cold but starts easy afterwards. I'm totally new to this, I also need to know the following. 1. what kind of oil to use and how much? 2. the rear diff is covered with oil on the back of it, is this an easy fix? 3. How to tell the year with no number tags, Is there hidden #s I can use? Thx in advanced. |

There should be some numbers stamped on the frame rail. Mine are on the passenger side on the top of the frame rail. Not sure where yours will be.
Mine is a workhorse so when I lift the bed I can see the numbers real good. It sounds like yours has the 295cc Robbins motor. |

Re: How to identify my ezgo/no tag
Did you try and see if you had the tag under the inspection panel behind teh rear seat under the basket. IN 04 EZGO move the metal plate from the glove box. they now put a sticker with cart info on the cross brace under the inspection lid.
If all else fails get the serial number and call ezgo. There is a serial number on the drvs side frame rail under the cart. it will be a white sticker. |

Here are some pics
So looking at the pics, what lift kit will i have to use? The tires are 18x8.50 and the rim looks about 9 inches. What should I put on the cart? |

Re: How to identify my ezgo/no tag
Well looking at the front axle I would say it's newer than a 2001.5, cheapest and easiest lift would be a 6" Allsports spindle lift, using 23” x 10.5” x 12” tires and wheels. Just my opinion but there is allot of options out there.
edit: check your steering column where it bolts to the floor, 4 bolts = 2001.5 and older, 3 bolts = 2001.5 and newer. |

Re: How to identify my ezgo/no tag
New style steering and a pre - MCI engine. It has to be in the 2001.5 to 2003 range. That year range cart will not have a serial stamp on the frame or the tag below the pedal box assembly. Just a serial plate in the passenger glove box - which you say has been removed...
No serial plate? Craigslist? Quickie rattle can paint job? Stolen? Got one in my shop just like it today - Craigslist "bargain" - NO I.D. tags anywhere - buyer beware... |

Re: How to identify my ezgo/no tag
I didn't think 1500 was that good of a deal, but worth it.
O.k I just got off the phone with person I bought cart from. He says the person he got it from said the cart was stolen from him and he got it back, but the cart was not running so he sold it. So the guy I bought it from fixed it and sold it to me. I have addy and name of person I got it from and I have no problem taking the police to him. |
