Default Question about throttle mechanism ..

Ok, I just finished getting my motor back in and running.

Whoever had it before me, hot wired a line from the battery to an
aftermarket switch mounted on the cowling, which when turned on, sends
12v to the small pole on the starter/gen. and starts the cart.

The pedal is the throttle only at this point.

My question is; What are the chain of events during a normally functioning
pedal/throttle assembly ?

Thanks.

I am specifically wondering what the function of the ignitor is...

It's a 98 Workhorse, 800.

I am scouring the schematics now..

My question will probably be answered when I peel the throttle
pedal back and see what has failed.

It appears that some switch failed and they just hotwired it.
I just want to know where to look for the failure.

I think so.. I will have to get into it when I get home, and then
we will see..

Is there any way to test those micro switches.. just with a standard
ohm meter ?

Yes you have to set it on where when you touch the black and red toghter it shows a reading not sure what setting just hold the too together and click the dial till it shows a reading and take them apart and the meter goes to ooo,or show nothing, then hook the red to one wire and black to other and click the switch,if the switch is good it will show-- you got me

A continuity test works for micro-switches

It was fine..the mechanism that activates it, looks like a miniature drum on the end of the accelerator linkage would not press it in far enough.
I am pretty sick of using the hotwire switch some wonderful mechanic at Disney
rigged..so for the time being I wrapped a 3/8" wide telco ziptie around it.
Works perfect.

I am still on my desert island with a ammo box full of tools, and a cart.

All is well.

I just need to investigate further to facilitate a longer term
solution.

At least now, I can push the pedal and the engine lights up.
Makes shifting easier too ..
