Default Clutch install

Ready to put my clutch on my 350 Workhorse. How tight do you twist the spring? A diagram would help, but none in the tech section look like mine or they show the wrong end. This is a stock 01 Workhorse clutch.

Twist what spring? Drive clutch? Driven clutch? Did you rebuild a clutch?

Must be a trick question, Mike..

I'm guessing its the drive since he said "350 Workhorse", as for the spring..
I have no idea.

I'm new to this so I really don't know anything about it.It's a learn as I go process. This is the standard clutch, from the engine it has the starter pully, then the finger part, then the black smooth cover, then the alum. flat disk that goes on the end. The spring goes between the big part with the fingers and the alum. disk. Each one has a little hole a stright part on each end of the spring goes in.Does the disk go on the inside or outside of the black part?I know this sounds kinda silly and mixed up, but maybe I'll learn soon. This is a stock 2001 350 EZ Go engine/Clutch.

If you don't have a camera..maybe you could post the book page, and
the document you are using as a reference guide, with that page..

Your description is easy enough at first, .. you seem to have described the
starter/generator (first pulley toward front of vehicle) and the "finger" must be the tension adjustment for that belt..
Then the "black smooth cover" is the 'drive clutch'. Most people do not take that apart to remove it.
That has a wide belt going back to the aluminum 'driven clutch'.

So is it the drive clutch or the driven clutch you are trying to reassemble ?

I have made sure there are links to manuals on this site so people can tell us exactly what they're talking about. reviewing the manuals is pretty much a must when working on most anything, it gives you a head start when it comes to figuring out problems. start by looking at the manual(s) in the tech section so you can describe these parts by thier correct name. There's a bunch of talented people on this site but not many of them can read minds, right now you've got several people wondering what your talking about.

This is the drive clutch. For some reason the guy I got it from took it apart when he took the engine out.I'm gonna check the tech section again more closley.Maybe I was looking in the wrong one.Sorry for all the confusion,I just thought if somebody messed with enough of them they would know exactly without seeing it.I gotta learn how to post pics in my threads! Thanks for the help!

The OEM Drive clutch does not have any "options" for the spring. When you re-assemble, you will need to add tension to the spring...
