Default slow fwd ,fast rev. great comp on both!?

i have the common problem of " sluggish foward and great reverse" i have read the prior threads and people have suggested to do a compression test. so i did and i have 140 in fwd and 145 in rev. the belt looks good. i am assuming it is something in the wireing . it is an 86 robin 244. i am stumped it does move along in fwd but not even close to reverse. thanks alot guys any help would be great.

Most all golf carts and cars, trucks, etc. have lower reverse gears to help you creep along....when you gas it it feels faster...

no, it bogs out like the choke is sticking on in fwd.( witch its not) but i switched the fwd /rev switch around and it was the same, i was hoping it was in the switch. could it be cluches? it sure seems electrical.?!

If the compression is good then i'd bet on it being a driven clutch problem. The clutch is opening up to fast going foward and it's jumping into to much gear bogging down the engine.
It's easier to pull than to push so if your steering is messed up it might slow it down going foward but not like what your talking.

hmmm , ya i should check the clutch out. but i have it up on jack stands free wheeling and it still does it, i wonder if the generater is some how creating a load in fwd. because the generater is not activated in reverse(i believe). any way thanks for the reply keep your ideas coming they are muchly appreaciated.

is there a problem with disconnecting the battery once the gas engine starts running to rule out electrical issues?
