Default Is this a good deal? How fast is it?

Hey guys,

I'm considering getting rid of my electric club car. I found a 2004 gas powered EZGO stock golf cart for $2100 on craigslist. Seems to be in good shape. All stock. Does that seem to be a good price.

How is the up keep on these versus the electric ones? How fast can I expect to go in stock form? My electric club car goes 13mph and is too weak to lift. I mainly want to go 25mph on the street at the beach with maybe a 23"-25" tire and 6" lift.

Thanks.

$2100 seems to be a good price but that always depends on the local market. With my Workhorse and 22" tires I easily made 23 mph on the stock motor. I would think you could reasonably expect to make that with 23-25" tires.
Maintenance wise, I personally think the gas carts are much easier than the electrics. And of course every 5 years or so, you'll have an extra 4 to 7 hundered you can spend on shiny stuff rather than batteries

Yup the batteries/maintenance can get a little pricy on the electric carts, usually the gas carts have a higher purchase price, but that seems to be reasonably priced @ $2100 I don’t think you will get 25mph out of it stock though, that will require quite bit of work.... O and some $$

Exhaust
Intake
Gears
Hi octane gas
some large tires
no diff gov. spring
But the motor/ignitior will limit the Rpm's so your not going to push it any farther than the motor will go.

with a lift and 22" tires you can sure get right close to 25mph. 23mph is probably more like it unless it's a hp(?) model, then it'll for sure hit 25mph.
a gas cart in good condition should be able to run several years with virtually no maintenance. kinda depends on how much you use them but it's pretty easy to go a couple years and not do jack to one. you can look at the owners manual in the tech section and it'll tell you what the maintenance should be on it.

Thanks for all of the replies.

The original post spoke of a bone stock 2004 cart with no rear seat.

I also found this one on craigslist.

1996 EZGO Gas with new paint, rear seat, lift bigger tires and wheels. Seems to be a good deal for $2895. He said he would give me about $700-800 for my 1990 Club Car resistor cart, 36V with 05 Trojan batteries. So I could pick it up pretty cheap.

What do you think?

nice looking cart!, seems like a pretty good deal. Nothing wrong going with a little bit older year like that, they are pretty much the same as newer ones but you save a bunch of money when buying them.
good price on the CC too, IMO
