new guy here (85 ezgo)
hey guys, new to the forum, i just did a new top end on my 85 244 robin and i have my carts rear end lifted off the ground and i hit the gas peddle it fires right up and wants to go, if i hold the peddle half way down while running, it stays running great, but soon as i floor it, it stays running till that white round plastic cover thing (clutch cover maybe) on the right side reaches its full lengh (where the gov. bar is) it wants to start from the beginning again. to me it dont seen to be starving for fuel, it seems i dont have something hooked up right any ideas?????? thanks for your help

Re: new guy here (85 ezgo)
Before you took the gov. off, the issue seems to be be the governor slowing the engine down to prevent damage and control speed. After you took it off, however, you were just free-revving. This is not good with these little engines. They will practically rattle themselves apart at higher RPM's. If you have the gov. cable totally removed, I am assuming the cut out is the engine over-revving.
How long has it been since the rebuild? Have you driven it around on the new top end yet? The new rings need to break in as well as the cylinder walls. Easy driving around will do just that. Try to refrain from revving it high until it is broken in. Mitch |
