97 ez-go medalist, stock everything right now
okay, I'm one of those nutty people who plan everything out way ahead of time, and thus end up talking themselves into and out of plans several times in the process. that being said: I'm torn between 1) buying a "performance" exhaust (I "" performance, because come on, it is only a 9 hp motor); 2)cutting the current plugged muffler apart, cleaning it out(baffles, packing, the works), and then sewing it back together; 3) making some custom straight pipes; or 4) just bbq'ing the thing. i'm not looking for a speed/torque demon, but would like it to sound cool. I need a "show'er, not a grower" anyway, my question is on the carb jetting. obviously, if i just bbq it, i won't need to mess with the jetting. what about if I clean the dude out (baffles, packing, yadda, yadda, yadda)? straight pipes? and, if i do go with a performance muffler, any help on what size jet i will need? i see cpp has a kit for the cc, where it comes with the header, muffler, intake filter and correctly sized jet. that would be the optimal thing (easy and reasonably priced), but i have not seen anything like that kit for ez-go's. also, how much work goes into changing the jet? i've got big hands, and if the jet is near the bowl, I don't see how I'm going to get my meat paws in there, and if i do, be able to move them once they're in there. sorry to be such a pain in the arse, but I was born half retarded, when it comes to engines. |

RCC has a nice intake and exhaust at a decent price, and it sounds good. It also adds some performance!

I would say the only way to re-jet it so it's right, is to do your mod then see what the plugs look like after running and jet accordingly. You have to pull the carb to do that.

Sweet, thanks Cartin! Also, thanks Ruredy, that is what I was trying to get at (if there was a predictable way vs trial and error of matching the jets).

The R.C.C pipe comes with a new jet and it is right on for me. Jetting is a trial and error process.

Not sure what kind of rear lift kit you have but the R.C.C. exhaust will not work with stretch plastic longtravel rear lift kit, not sure about the other lifts out there, another option is the exhaust made by stretch its a little quieter but very nice.
