Default 93 EZGo lots of new parts, want more power, whats next?

Newbie here. Sorry if this has been answered before.

I bought a house last year that came with a 93 2-cycle EZGo that had never been serviced. This winter I did the following:
~rear seat
~lights all around
~rebuilt front suspension (stock tires, no lift)
~new full size car battery
~moved air intake to golf bag area (under rear seat) with a 6x4 K&N
~new carb, fuel pump, filter, linkages, throttle cable, choke cable, belts
~redid and rerouted most wiring
~rear clutch power spring
~removed oil tank and started mixing oil at about 90:1
~new Autolite 275 plug and wire

Now she runs more steady and reliable, a little better uphill, but not as fast on flats. What else can I do? Do I need to adjust the carb from the new setting? What about removing the governor or setting it right? How can I do this? Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A 93 gov should adjust like a 4 stroke does, there's a thread about it in the tech section but basically just tighten the nut on the spring/cable thing that's on the rear end. no need to remove it

Sorry to repeat post, but I looked through all 100+ pages of the forum and couldn't find what I thought I needed. Thanks for the help. I will try it this weekend and report back. I appreciate it, thanks again.

I followed the advice of tightening the nut on the spring and the cart was running much slower and very hot. I decided to try doing the opposite and loosening the nut as far as I could, which made the spring much less compressed. The cart ran much better with the spring loose. What does this mean? Does it mean my throttle linkage/cables are out of adjustment? Why would performance improve with the governor?

Your best performance upgrade would to replace the 17 year old clutches with new ones - IMO...

I found cartpartsplus has a Comet clutch to fit it for $245. Will that make a big difference? Can the front clutch be removed without pulling the motor?

I already replaced the spring in the rear clutch, and cleaned and greased the moving parts, is that enough?

And still, why would I get better performance with the governor nut/spring loose rather than tight?

Thanks for the input.

not sure about the gov thing, it only pulls back on the throttle when the rearend speed gets high. tightening the nut doesn't allow it to pull the throttle back. since I can not see the cart I can't tell what's going on there. the overheating can be from it running lean or bad clutch like mike has said, clogged cooling fan/fins or some other overlooked thing.

I really want to thank you guys for all your help and knowledge. I am great with electronics, etc. I am a big contributor to forums where I can help people, I appreciate you helping me.

I believe you guys that I need to get a new front clutch. Someone posted before, somewhere that Comet was out of business, should I still buy a Comet clutch? What other companies out there make a higher torque performance clutch to help get my fat a$$ up hills? I am going to do the rear clutch mod that makes it function as an industrial clutch for higher torque, too.

It was only running hot when I had the governor spring tight. It runs much cooler with the spring as loose as I can make it.

I am also going to mess with the linkage and throttle cables to make sure they are functioning at their best.
