Default EXGO driven clutch

What is the distinction between a 36 degree and a 28 degree driven clutch? Which one is built for speed?

As I understand it the 28 is a low end torque/power clutch that works best with an alternate belt. The ramps on this clutch are at 28 degrees ( hence the name ). The 36 is a standard clutch that comes on most models that is a combo. of a little low end and a little high end.

On flat ground with no real load in a cart the 36 will get the jump on the 28 cause it goes through it's gearing ratio quicker. top end speed remains the same between both. There's a few variables that are involved which can change things, gearing/tire size, terrain, horse power, that should be considered when selecting a clutch. most people with lifted, big tire carts choose to go with th 28.

what power kit? well, doesn't really matter the answer is probably no. Power kits are usually just stiffer springs.

The Power Kit is listed as OEM # 26301-GO3. Or others list it as Part # 6258, clutch with the belt.

I hope this bit of info helps.

welcome to bgw jeffxlh
THe 2 stroke clutch is a different animal for the most part.... I have seen, in the parts, book a clutch that works on late 2 stroke and all 4 stroke but never seen the 28 degree listed as such....

I have been working through this same problem. My 2-cycle is a dog on hills but pretty peppy on the flats. From all my research, calls, and posts on this forum I have come to the same conclusion many times...the old 2-cycle motors are very underpowered and not worth putting your money into. Cart Parts Plus and Mike's Motor Toys have both told me I won't get the results for the money I would spend. Both honest business men looking to keep their customers satisfied by not selling them something that they won't get results from. I have another thread here trying to get a number for a 1" shorter belt to "mimic" the results of a 28 degree clutch.

UPDATE: I have found the belt! It is a Dayco HP2015 ( 39.766 x 1.188 ) as opposed to the original size HP2013 ( 40.75 x 1.188 ). I ordered it from Autozone for $30. This belt supposedly gives you more bottom end and doesn't hurt the top end. I will report back in a few weeks once I have installed the belt.

I have a 1993 2-cycle. I replaced belts, plug, carb, all cables, removed oil injection (once off, I realize it was getting WAY too much oil), full size battery, rerouted a K&N intake outback, put in a "power" clutch spring in the driven clutch and redid all my wiring.

With all that, I got a very minimal improvement in my hill climbing ability. My next moves are to make sure all my cables are tuned right, the carb is set right, and check to make sure my muffler isn't clogged.

Is there anything you have done that you saw any improvement?
