295 Head on a 350
When someone does a 295 head to 350 block swap, do they use just the 295 head with the 350 cam, valves and other parts or are the topend parts not interchangable?

Ya know, I direct people to use the search option all the time but I am embarrassed to say it never entered my mind to do that.

Re: 295 Head on a 350
You can bolt a 295 head, in stock condition on a 350 block. The valves will not tolerate the higher compression well and it should be replaced with SS valves and heavier srings. Valves and springs are around $100. The stiffer springs keep the collets from popping out and floating valves. The 350 cam is preferred. Beyond that, it's just a lot of money.
Your RPM will be controlled by your rev limiter (ignitor) and won't go much past 5K It's a good bump in power for a couple hundred dollars. |

If you get the MSD from fast Fred you wont be limited to the stock limiter. SEARCH NEWB! |

This is what I know. It's not much. Fast Fred has the line and supply if the valves and springs. It's 16. per valve and 6 per spring plus shipping. I may be a little off, but it was right under 100 to the door. All the stock collets and retainers work.
The MSD is a model 1200 or 6A. The 6AL has a rev limiter in it. The coil is a blaster or equal. It's one large coil with two plug wires and runs off the stock pulser coil. He also uses the PZ26 Walbro carberater. 26mm slide carberator that has a ton of adjustment features. Needle, needle jet, main, fuel screw, idle screw and whatever else they put in those. The instructions that Fred provides are very simple and with the custom hardware, you'd be best to buy it from him. It's so simple even Tony (a caveman) can do it! |
