Front Seat Support
Started working on my new summer project....a 91 TXT gas....this weekend. Added a stock muffler and air cleaner, they were missing when I got the cart. At some point parts of the frame that hold the front cowling and the support to hold up the seat were chopped off. Next step is to work on the seat supports. Can anyone tell me how high the front supports would be so when I get a back body piece it will sit right on it like it should. It also looks like there were supports that went from the front supports back to one of the cross supports in the back. Is that right? I am guessing that those are just level from the top of the back cross support to the front support? Also, my cart didn't come with a back body piece so can someone tell me where about the shifter is mounted and the choke cable?

Re: Front Seat Support
Mine measured 37 1/2" across, 12" high. The shifters shaft hole center is 17 1/2" from the passenger side, and 3" down.
Hope this helps. |

Re: Front Seat Support
IIRC, the front seat support just bolts on and is available as a service part.. It's also the same whether the cart is gas or electric..

Re: Front Seat Support
Those pictures are great, exactly what I needed. I see a couple supports on the frame back by the rear fender and on mine those are chopped off also. should I run a support from where those used to be up to the new front support I make?

Re: Front Seat Support
My front support is just 2 uprights and a cross bar. Nothing going from from front to rear and as far as I can see its not missing anything. The body is attached to that support with about 8 hard as he11 rivets. It wont go anywhere! The two short pieces you see that look like they should be running all thew way to the front are the seat supports when its down.

Re: Front Seat Support
OK, just so I am clear....in your last picture back by the driver's rear fender. There is a bracket that looks like it sticks out about 2" toward the front of the cart. Those are brackets that the front seat sits on to support the seat? Is that right? I ask because mine are chopped off and if the front seat rest on those then I need to add a bracket on mine.

Re: Front Seat Support
Ray,
Here's a pic of my dad's cart when I did an engine swap.. You can see what the area looks like with the body in place.. The short supports stop just under the edge of the seat opening to support the back edge of the seat.. |

Re: Front Seat Support
Thanks CC-John. Now things are crystal clear! This is my first cart project and I am having fun learning as I go. My cart needs a pretty good amount of work so I am sure I will be posting quite a few more threads.

Re: Front Seat Support
Here is close up of that brace. This one is the drivers side. My gas tank uses the center slotted hole on the passenger side brace.
