Default Is Spun Hub a Common Problem?

I bought a 2007 Ez-Go gas golf cart about a month ago from a dealer who refurbishes carts returned from golf courses. I was taking a casual drive around a private campground when the cart quit moving. I took it to the dealer yesterday and it turned out to be a spun hub, which they replaced while I waited.

Is this a common problem? Can someone point me to a place on the Web where I might see some photos and get a little more detail on this problem? I don't know what kind of treatment this cart received while it was in service at the golf course, but I have not abused it at all.

Thank you.

More common than you would think but due more because of improper installation.
Did you watch him put it on and tighten the nut?
If he didn't use a torque wrench and torque it to 90ft lbs you will be doing it again.
If you want to check them, when you get to 90 and the cotter hole doesn't line up, tighten until it does, don't back off to match hole.

Thank you, Crash. I assume only one wheel pulls...do you know which that is?

It has an open differential in it like a car so both will pull but not like a posi. Say if in sand, the wheel with the least weight will spin.
I believe it's the left side that usually gives up first for some reason.

Aside from an improperly torqued axle nut the most common contributing factor is changing direction while still moving. ie: Shifting into forward while rolling back.
