Default 1987 ez go with no start problem

problem starting a 1987 EZgo with a robin engine. doesn't seem to have spark, but good compression and seems to be getting fuel. wondering if there are points or not and if they are under the flywheel. I have been told there is somekind of ignition module that controls the spark to the coil. hope i have explained enough cause new to these forums I bought this used from a neighbor, but bit off too much. thanks

it should have a coil just coil the spark plug wire, it has an ignitor mounted back by the voltage regulator and it should have some type of rmp limitor......not sure what they call theirs i would start with the coil and coil wire have seen both of them go bad also follow the coil wires to where they plug in and check those connections i have seen plenty go bad right there......................
