How do I remove oil injector to run mixed gas?
I just finished putting in a new top end on my 1992 ezgo. I like the idea of removing the oil injector to run mixed gas. What do I need to do? Can I just unhook the oil injector from the carburator link and start mixing?

Re: How do I remove oil injector to run mixed gas?
I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it or not, but when i bought mine i was told they had unhooked the injector and premixed so i looked and all the previous owner did was cut the cable to the injector. Maybe someone will chime in with better advice.

I disconnected the linkage and the oil line to the carb. Then I removed the oil tank as to eliminate any future confusion.

If I remove the line to the carburator and disconect the line from the oil tank to the injector should I "cap" the nipple where the lines came into the carburator and/or injector?

It would be better, I put a small rubber cap over my lines to stop any junk from making it's way into the fuel mix.

Take the banjo bolt out of the top of the reed cover and put a regular screw in it to seal it, take the tank, punp, lines and cable off and you will be good to go.

remove the pump and plug the crankshaft. If you don't your engine will run lean, make sure all lines are pluged and or capped. On mine there was one in the elbow on the intake too. If you do not block all of these the engine will lean burn overheat and sieze up. Mix the oil gas ratio heavy on oil. 128 oz gas (or 1 gallon ) x 1-1/2 - 2 oz good 2 cycle oil. I use synthetic racing 2 stroke in mine.

Re: How do I remove oil injector to run mixed gas?
Remove the line on the right, plug that hole with a regular machine screw. That is all you need to do, that is all I have done and I mix the gas 70:1 without issue. 100:1 is the factory ratio but that is for light golf course use, heavy use (continuous driving) is 50:1 so I just sit in the middle with no issues at all. |
