anyone know the 85 Ezgo clutch removal tool size to build homemade? my bolt is 1/2 inch fine thread

Here is how I removed my 86 clutch. You need a 3/4 inch bolt with a 2 inch fine thread. You also need a 5/8 inch steel rod exactly 3 1/2 inches long. (I had to buy a 36 inch rod and cut it down). When you look into the end of the clutch you will probably see a plastic plug which will stop the rod, this is threaded onto the shaft and in my case was very difficult to remove. With that out of the way drop in the rod and with a little lube on the bolt threads wind the bolt in. Now you just need some muscle to drive the clutch off the shaft.

I dont see any threads at all in the end only a hole for the 1/2 inch bolt there were two rubber seals that I dug out one on each side of the clutch, probably by mistake. Hole is not big enough for 5/8 shaft?
Please help!

I can't believe that the design changed between 85 and 86 so I assume that yours is the same as mine. I am rebuilding the engine so it is out and on the bench which makes life easier. Even so it confused me as originally there was no was to insert the 5/8th rod. By shining a flashlight into the end of the shaft I realised that there was a gray plastic plug in the end. This I am guessing is to a) protect the 3/4 inch thread and b) stops the long bolt that holds the clutch onto the shaft from whipping when rotating. After much dicking around I eventually ran a 9/16 drill through it and then eased out the remaining plastic. (I am hoping that this plug is supplied with a new clutch).

No, I believe that the center piece is the plastic plug that is hiding the 3/4 inch thread. Try jamming a large screwdriver blade in there and unscrewing it. As I said in my case I used a large drill and drilled most of it out so I could then get the rest out.

I was able to just use the long bolt and tip the threads just beforeit is all the way out that was enough to catch it and remove it.
