Default EZ GO 2PG Robin Engine

Cart starts with battery but won't kick in to go with gas...Cleaned carb, fuel pump, checked crankshaft for leaks, changed lines, spark plugs, cleaned out gas tank...Eliminated everything but the real problem...Any ideas?

Hello ShelleyB and welcome to the forum!

You have hit most of the easy but important things already. A few more things to try:

1. pull fuel line that goes from the fuel pump to the carb off the carb side and turn the engine over. The line should squirt a decent stream of fuel.

2. remove spark plug and insert into the spark plug wire. Ground the end-most diode of the plug (engine side) on some nearby bare metal. Turn the engine over. You should see a bright blue spark in the gap.

3. check compression.

Let us know what you find after running these tests.

goodluck!
Mitch

I have the same problem. Yet the engine starts but when I let off the accelerator the engine dies. I have checked everthing, adjusted throttle cables, have spark, fuel, could it be the control box from the accelerator assembly? Thanx.

The 2 stroke carts are designed not to run with the accelerator pedal not depressed. There is no idle as the engine runs clockwise and counterclockwise for forward and reverse. That so you cant shift from forward to reverse while the engine is running and damage the engine.

Thanx for your answer, but I have a 4cycle Robin Engine. Does your answer apply to this type of engine?

I don't think it applies big... If you could be a little more specific with your symptoms.. Kinda hard to tell what you've got goin' on. Also always include the make, model and engine of your buggy. As you can tell it's hard to assist when you don't know what your workin' on...

No it does not, I thought you had a 2 stroke. Yes the 4 stroke should idle.

Big welcome i know you are new here you need to start your own thread in the section that fits your cart and some one will help you fix it,-
It's hard to talk about two carts at the same time

This is ShellyB's thread
