Ez go starter generator and voltage regulator question
Newbi here. I just got a cart from father in law it has been parked out back for a couple of years. He said the battery kept on going dead on it. Well i got it home a put a battery in it to check it well it started right up and runs. I checked the battery it reads 12 volts off and when cart is running. I then disconnected the green wire and grounded it from the starter generator and checked the red and black wire from the VR and it was reading 11.2 volts while cart was running. So does that mean the starter generator is bad?

Re: Ez go starter generator and voltage regulator question
If you have 12 volts while running, it probably is not charging. Not sure what these generators are supposed to put out, but it should be more than 12 volts. I would check all the connections to make sure they are clean. If the battery is going dead while not in use, I would check for a short in the system. If the way you checked it is the correct way, then it is bad.
