Ezgo overheating
1985 ezgo marathon overheats after driving for 20 minutes. I know the golf cart isnt exactly designed to run for 20 straight minutes. It was more designed for running two minutes then a 5 munite break. any ideas on somehow keeping it cooler? Also i know it is summer so that heat doesnt help it get any cooler.

Re: Ezgo overheating
make sure engine is kept clean especially the cooling fins and check to see if muffler is clogged

Re: Ezgo overheating
after a ride take the seat off and and spit or drop a few drops of water on the side of the muffler thats closer to the engine and then do the same to the other side were the tailpipe is. mine gets glogged alot. you can bbq your muffler and it will burn out all the unwanted deposits.

Re: Ezgo overheating
another easy way to check for a plugged muffler is simply to take the bolts that hold the muffler to the pipe and loosen them (or remove them entirely) so there is a decent (1/2" or more) gap between the pipe and the muffler. Run the cart and see if your problem persists, if it improves then you're most likely in need of a good BBQ

Re: Ezgo overheating
I did mine for just over an hour, it took about 15-20min to start jetting flames everywhere out of the pipe and outlet, it blew flames weakly for about another 20 and I gave it about a beer and a half just to be safe :)
If you're worried about "technique", this will hopefully ease your mind LMAO |

Re: Ezgo overheating
So after i take it off the fire should i do any thing else or does burning it in the fire comletely burn the unwanted crap in there? Meaning do i have to blow it out or something.

Re: Ezgo overheating
mine was shooting flames for almost an hour. but i took mine out of the fire every 10 min or so and tapped it with a old hockey stick to knock loose all the carbon and what not. and kept rotating it around in the fire. i need to do mine again soon
