Default 89 EZ Go Marathon

Recently purchased a 89 Marathon, When run for awhile and go to take off again the starter turns but wont start, put it in reverse then switch to forward it starts, i dont like doin this as it can be rough on the drive.
Is there a adjustment on the switch or is it a complete switch change.

2 stroke right?

I hope your not swapping from reverse to forward with the motor running...those motors actually run forward or backwards depending on where that switch is positioned.

The switch is a pretty simple mechanism...you should be able to remove and clean it with some contact cleaner.

Sprayed the switch with contact clean and it has improved some, when i get it home i will check the roller switch, now when i run it for awhile i occasionally get a sound like a blast of air when i stop, it sound like a tire going flat but tires are fine

You may find that is the sound of the belt slipping. As you slow down the drive clutch will open up and the rear wheels will drive the driven clutch which will drive the belt for a short while as you coast to a halt. This is normal.

You say you have a 2 stroke, and you are shifting from Reverse
, to neutral, then to forward while it is running, what are you shifting from R--N--F ??

as of this morning she is starting from forward, the last week it has been start in reverse for a few minutes, shift to neutral then to forward and the starter would fire it off.

can I ask you .--what are you shifting, because a 2 stroke does not have a shifter, so what are you shifting from R-to-F ???

Ok what I mean by a shifter, is when you shift your rear end from forward gear to reverse gear like a 4 stroke has in it.--- now this so called shifter/switch that you guys have in you 89 2 stroke, does not shift any thing manually to put it in gear, all it does is change the 12v power to the starter to make the starter spin in forward and reverse direction, because the 2 stroke motor runs in forward, and then you stop the motor from running and flip your shifter/switch to run the motor in reverse.--And it is NOT good to start that 89 cart in reverse and flip your shifter/switch with out letting the motor STOP running, before you flip that switch, but if you keep starting it that way you will be digging a lot of money out of your pocket to fit it--

I was try to find out if he meant a 4 stroke instead of a 2 stroke, because it would not hurt to shift a 4 stroke while it was running as to where it will kill a 2 stroke
