Default New Baby, now the expensive stuff

Just brought home a new Patriot Blue ST Sport II about an hour ago.............and now I'm at work. Basically I drove in on the trailer at the dealership and back off the trailer at home and that's about it. I had to be at work ASAP so I parked it in the garage and came on to work. Oh well, she'll be there when I get home.

My first mods/additions will be some tail lights and signals. I haven't had time to look at the factory wiring yet to see what is and isn't there, but as you can see it has OEM headlights. I know I'll have to buy a couple tail lights and the turn signal switch. Outside of that I don't know, probably a brake switch too. I've noticed most "street legal kits" come with headlights which I don't need, so if someone knows of a better kit for my cart please let me know.
Thanks,
Allen

Miner, you should have all the wiring in place for the adds you want to add, I would be surprised if the wires are only for the front lights.

Wires are only for the front. I talked with an EZGO rep and they gave me a list of 6-8 things I need for the conversion. Two of these are new $120 wiring harness and a $200 blinker switch....all parts total I was looking at $450

So enough of that already, I got a switch coming from a fellow member, and I'm trying to find near OEM replacement lights. I am pretty handy with a soldering iron, so I'll be creating my own "kit" from absolute scratch. I hate not to go OEM, plug and play, parts since it's a brand new cart, but I can't bring myself to pay that kind of money for something that should cost less than half of what they want. Sure I can find the parts online and save maybe $100 off retail, but still a little rich for my DIY'er blood. I am going to take my time finding the parts and getting the wiring right and hopefully come out with an "Equate" version of a street legal kit.

I'm sure I'll be leaning on the experts here for advice as I go.

Before ya go building a harness.... IIRC, EZGO only makes one light harness for the TXT & ST carts, it has everything in it.. My dealer tried to give me the same crap you were told..

Flip the bed up and look along the rear frame rails for a wire harness, there should be a four wire harness zip-tied along each rear frame rail.. You should also have a fuse panel mounted on the driver's side rear fender liner under the seat.. Also look under the floorboard, just above and behind the driver's front wheel, there should be some unused plug-ins for the horn switch and brake light switch zip-tied to the harness, the plug-ins for the horn will be zip-tied to the harness somewhere near or in front of the battery.. Under the dash is a square, multi-wire, connector that the optional turn signal switch plugs in to..

If the whole harness is there, all you need is a pair of socket/pigtails for the front turnsignals, the factory turn signal switch, a pair of Workhorse taillight assys., a horn switch & horn, and the brake pedal with the built-in brakelight switch..

Let's hope he reads this before he tears it apart.

I looked all over this cart and didnt find any of the things you described, except the fuse panel. The EZGO rep said the Sport II's had a "short harness" implying that it was only to the front headlights.

I have a 2008 ST Sport II, and It doesn't have all the extra wires zip tied to the frame; must have been the year they switched to the short harness. Minner, could you tell us in detail how you installed the turn signals, rear lights, etc, and the wiring without spending the big bucks on the factory stuff if you have completed your project. Or, could you or anyone else provide a list of what us other St Sport II owners with the short harness would have to have to do it the oem way. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
