Default 1984 flywheel removal

Hi, I have a 1984 EZGO and I am trying to change the crankshaft seals. I have already removed the engine and have taken the clutch off, but I'm trying to figure out how to remove the flywheel. I removed the housing and the cooling fan. Any help would be appreciated. This is the first time I have owned or worked on a golf cart. I have read through the threads and have not found what I'm looking for.

Look at the flywheel and you should see two dome head screws that look like they don't do anything. If you remove these they reveal the holes for you to connect a puller. If you are using the oil pump it is very important that you protect the end of the crankshaft from the puller. I found that an old half inch socket slipped over nicely and acted as a sacrifice piece. The first time I removed mine it took every fiber of my being to do it but it will come off eventually. Be careful not the lose the woodruff key that keeps everything in position.

Good Luck

Dave and Brew City, I wanted to thank the both of you for the help. It saved me a lot of time with the information that you gave me. I removed the flywheel successfully and was able to intall both seals and put the engine back into the cart and now it is running good. It sure is nice to have people like you guys that care enough to help people like myself that don't have the knowledge or experience in these matters. Again thank you both so much.

Brew City - where did you outline procedure? Although I am late to the forum I have the same problem. Thank you for your time. Hope you are still on this forum.

"cart around" - Thank you for the prompt response. I will try removing as per instructions over the weekend. Hopefully success before Super Bowl starts.

Earlier in the process of taking the engine apart I found a foreign object that should not have been there. It was lodged in the oil hole for the crank shaft bearing on the flywheel end of the crank shaft.
