Discontinuing 350 Motor
A friend of mine went to have a new throttle cable put on his cart today.
While he was there he got to talking with the cart repair people, about replacing his 295 (worn out top end) with a new 350. They told him, that EzGo was discontinuing production of the 350 motor, and they were hard to get a hold of. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is it true? Why, if it is true, are they doing it???? |

Re: Discontinuing 350 Motor
They went with the Kawasaki 350 one cylinder motor a few years ago. The 2 cylinder Subaru motors are discontinued... which is a shame but considering they never did have a crank bearing it is good ridence to the sobs

This quote from January 2008 Highlights From Some Of The Other Exhibitors E-Z-GO introduced the RXV fleet golf car which was designed to reduce energy and maintenance costs and to provide an unsurpassed experience through best-in-class power, control, comfort and safety. The RXV electric model is 48-volts and features AC drive which is unprecedented for an electric golf car and results in more power and longer operating time between battery charges. The electric RXV’sindustry- first auto braking system brakes automatically on steep slopes when needed and can easily hold a 40-percent grade. The RXV gas model features a Kawasaki high performance, 13 hp engine, that sets new benchmarks for performance, even on the hilliest terrain. With a larger cylinder and lower RPM, it delivers better fuel economy with less noise. The RXV is backed by the most comprehensive warranty in the industry--four-year, bumper-to-bumper coverage. This marked the end of the Subaru twins in Ezgo Carts. They ceased to be made. Some parts are now getting harder to find .... |

Re: Discontinuing 350 Motor
Sounds like a good reason to big block gas carts if you need a motor. I had my 295 replaced with the 350 a year ago before i knew about big block kits and all. If i would have known about them and the few more bucks, i would have gone that route instead of a replacement motor.
I did talk to one of our ezgo dealers here that said that brand new motors are no more, but, he has no problem getting rebuilt motors from a engine builder in augusta, ga. That used to work for ezgo. |

Re: Discontinuing 350 Motor
Wow......It the part about no crank bearing true? Didn't know the Robins motors were no good. There are still a bunch of them out there. Are we talking about the motor that was just before the intro of the 401 Kawasaki?

Re: Discontinuing 350 Motor
The Kawasaki is a 401cc. The change was made in 2008. The motors were discontinued in 2009, but there is word that EZGO is thinking of getting replacement Robin motors back in stock again in the very near future. I bought 8 of each size about a year and a half ago, but have since sold each and every one.
EZGO is also toying with the idea of offering a complete Kawasaki engine upgrade kit - TOYING with the possibility, I must stress and NOT something in production as of yet. They just completed a 200 car conversion from electric to gas in order to "test" the conversion package, but no word if this will come available soon... |

Re: Discontinuing 350 Motor
Glad I waited for the new model. I think I saw some of the conversion carts on ebay. The dealer was selling as new carts (2011r) I believe and said they were converted to Gas and re-serialized as 2011R gas carts from the factory.
