Default Driven Clutch spring

Hello, All I am new to the form......looks like I have found the right place for some great info.

I have question about the driven clutch spring part number 26304-G01. I have seen were some sites advertise a power driven clutch spring is there really a difference???? Or are they just trying to sell something with a higher price tag that's the same item.

I am going to rebuild my driven clutch and replace my 32 degree cam with a new 28 degree cam and new ramp buttons should I go ahead and replace the spring to? With a new stock one or the power spring.
I have a 98 ez-go with 22" tires I need pulling power

OK so I am not actually answering your question but I have a couple of things to throw your way.First off, have you seen this article. I replaced my clutch with a standard one but as soon as I can get my act together I will rebuild my old clutch as per the article and see what it does.

http://krisdillon.com/buggy/

Secondly fittting a shorter belt has been mentioned several times here and you really should consider it before you spend a large ammount of $$ on a new clutch. It is truly remarkable what an inch less on your belt length will do for your torque. If you don't like the result then you still have a new belt to go with your new clutch.

Actually there is a heavier clutch out there for the driven and also the drive clutch. It does make a difference in torque.

The Driven clutch spring that you pull out of your clutch you can compress in your hands. The new spring takes a hydraulic press to compress it!

Like I said earlier they make one for the drive clutch too.

I was able to buy my spring kits from buggiesunlimited. I m sure other compaines offer them to. Ever since I installed mine I have falling in love with the torque I have now. Hope this works!

This is what you get with the krisdillon clutch mod. Those are 11" wide Carlisle 489's on the back. They wouldn't even spin on wet grass before the mod.

So 1989 Marathon what is the krisdillion clutch mod? I'm curious to know what all has been done?

Just click on the link I posted above. The mod looks fairly straightforward.

That looks just like the spring I took out of my ezgo when I rebuilt the clutch. The spring I put in the clutch you can't take apart or put back together without a hyd. press. Serious injuries could occur if not done properly. I think I spent $70 on the new spring.

That's interesting. Kris Dillon implies that you can just squeeze the clutch together by hand but I tried with no success so I assumed that I would have to press it. Mind you $70 for the spring makes the project look less finacially attractive. Hmmm, what to do? Oh well, thanks for the information 98

The spring I put in has no points on it to locate it in one of the holes. Go to buggiesunlimited.com and look up heavyduty torque springs for clutches and you will see it there. What krisdillion is doing is tightening the spring coil by twisting it another 180 degrees from the factory setting. Buggiesunlimited went another step and made a totally different spring with heavier coils and tougher tension. Its what ever a person thinks, but you really notice a difference in the two different springs.
