Duramax-eng/swap
Can't find a reasonable priced 295/350 remfg. Can someone help me with directions on a Duramax conversion on my wifes Ez-Go. It's a '91 utility body.
I would like to get started asap. |

Re: Duramax-eng/swap
After looking at these pictures I wonder if my 16 HP Kholer commercial would work as well??
I have a Cub cadet that had the shaft drive and it sat outsides one year and the deck fell apart but the engine only has about 60 hours on it and back when runnin the mower it would run like a top .. I never wanted to get rid of the mower because ( I am a pack rat ) but the transmission and motor are in perfect condition so I might just pull it and get some dimensions on it to see what it would take to fit it in my 93 marathon.. Re: Duramax-eng/swap
You know, I don't think I would do any thing differently. Cart is a blast to run around the farm on. I have some really loose sand and hills and it handles it all very well. Thinking of doing another for here at the house. We have 5 acres and I always need to haul something around and the wife likes to drive to the mail box!. And the grand kids love to drive them! Gary, I bet the Kohler will work out fine if you have a lift.

Re: Duramax-eng/swap
Well, I found a Duramax 16 on line for $299.00 free shipping. I'm getting serious about giving it a try. My concern at this point is---- replacement engine parts if ever needed. The nice option about stock is the ease of finding parts. Hm-mmm, that might be the hitch here. What you guys think?????

Re: Duramax-eng/swap
So far everyone says these are a clone of the honda and most parts will enterchange. The way I look at it is this. For the price of this motor, if it last a couple years and throws a rod, I'll put in another. But I have 2 generators, a log splitter, and 2 4 wheelers with these clones and in 5 years I 've only changed the oil and batteries on any of 'em. The only weak links I've found is they all come with poor quality fuel hoses. You'll have to put on new hoses for the install anyway!

Looks like you have used the clone for several years, how is it holding up?
