Cool Backfire

Just rebuilt my robin 295 cc but i can't get it to start. I have fire , but it will not start? All it will do is backfire.

the only way to check your timing is to pull the timing belt cover and lineup the marks.

I have heard they will run if they are off as much a 3 teeth.... Pull the valve cover and do that valve adjustment. If the timing is way off the valves won't be near closed at TDC.

TCS you do not have to pull the cover... It will run a tooth off.. Do like Scotty says, and check the valves. If they are closed at TDC then the timing is close enough. If you are way off the valves will show it under TDC.... The carb. should not be causing a backfire in your situation. When you put it back together did you make sure the timing marks were lined up on the cam and crank properly? If you can't remember then you should start there.

Thanks everyone! The valve adj did the job. Starts right up and best of all no backfire!
