Default Voltmeter

How do you install a voltmeter on a gas cart?

I just put a volt meter on my EZ GO Workhorse ST 350 4 stroke gas this week , I ran the positive wire from the gauge's + post to the side the ignition switch that is hot only when the key is in the on position , if you were to connect the wire to one that is hot all the time it will draw down your battery , and run the negtive to a ground , I used the ground on the back of the fuel gauge , so I only had to run two wires between the two dash panel plates ----the 2inch gauge wouldn't fit in the dash plate cleanly so I used the smaller gauge ------it works very well you can see the amount of charge taking place , I double checked the accuracy of the gauge by putting a meter on the battery and it is right on at just short of 15 on the gauge and 14.9 on the meter ------a very inexpensive thing that gives me some piece of mind as I am going waaaayyyy back in the woods -----I use the lights alot so I am thinking about putting a second battery and a battery selector switch as there is all kinds of room as my cart is strecthed out and the motor actually is under the dump bed

I would guess your cart is the same as mine , I had a light switch in the left side dash plate , I enlarged that hole and installed the gauge there and put another sytle light switch next to the gauge , tapped the wires for the gauges light into the light switch and the gauge also lights up ----- I am hoping to find time to install another toggle this weekend to keep the motor running when the gas pedal is released

Drilled 2" hole in dash last night. Had to many bud lights to hook up the wires. Will do that tonight.
Let me know how the toggle works. Never though about doing that. Sounds like that would be a good ideal.
