Default want more speed/power...

Hello all, so i am a rookie on the cart thing, but loving the more i fool with them. I have a 07 ezgo, that i turned from stock to a little crusing machine, the only problem now is with the bigger tires i dont have power or speed up hills. I am a big guy, (6'4", 230lbs), then add my son, wife, maybe a neighborhood kid, and we are slow go!! How much can i open the gov before i damage my engine...what is the cost of a "big block" that i am seeing on here...and what is involved with the swap. Thanks

Welcome to BGW!!

you can go to the EZGO gas tech section under Sub Forums and ruredy has a great thread on EzGo governor adjustment on 4 Strokes.

you can also install a shorter drive belt

Either tighten the spring in the driven clutch by doing the krissdillion modifcation or buy the heavyduty driven clutch spring from many of the sponsors of BGW

You will find that this is just the begining of a project filled with great times and good fun!

Hehe, looks like one of those big ole boys needs to move up a bit.

Welcome to BGW...... lots of info on here about repowering these carts. I'm pullin the trigger on a honda clone ASAP. Should make for a fun summer.

im 6'1" 270lbs, i had to replace the engine in mine when i got it. It originally had the 295 and i upgraded to the 350. But, if there is nothing wrong with your engine, leave it alone till you need to. But, you can tweak the gov. And you can send your drive clutch on the axle to tom at cpp.(site sponsor) he did some work on my clutch and made a good difference, but he suggested that i replace it because its worn out. But, if your clutch is in good enough shape, he can machine it and change the spring. Put on a new belt and it will have a bunch of bottom end. Only down side to it is you loose about 2mph. But, my cart pulls out the hole like a bullet and climbs hills like they are almost not there.

Thanks for all info, decided to shorten the drive belt, after some research on this site. Went to o'reilly and got a gates PL30075, but it went on very easy...not sure we matched the right belt, as i was shooting for 1" shorter than my stock belt (72054G01 carlisle?). I rode it around the yard and could not tell a "huge" difference, if any, oh well, will keep experimenting...
