My Marathon Project
1989 3PG Marathon...
Figured I'd post a few pics of my Marathon Project. Bought it a few years ago for 500 bux and never really did much to it. Rattle canned it, did a bit of maintenance and just drove it around at the track. I use it to tow my race car at the track. It's getting out of hand and I'd never get any money out of it but oh well Before: Currently: Frame and all suspension pieces were media blasted and powdered. Front suspension is completely new. Rear shocks are from an old street bike I had. I fab up a brush guard as well as some other stuff once I get further along. Plenty more to go. I'll post more as they come |

Re: My Marathon Project
Better than new is right!! The build quality on these is okay but I'm gonna give it some racecar-build qualities! So far it's been a blast. Unfortunately it's cost wayyyy to much money. Oh well.

Looks great!
Yes it does and will will cost a lot. Anything that is fun will cost you.(Cars Guns ATVs Boats Motorcycles) You will get hooked. .45 ACP because shooting twice is silly. |

I've restored a few cars in my time and this ain't no different....including the cost!!! I also dabble in drag car fab so I'm no stranger to expensive. Got the floor in last night as well as some other little tweaks. I'll post more pics in a day or so. |

Re: My Marathon Project
More....
Made some more progress. The 3pg is completely rebuilt. Slight over-bore, took a couple 100th's off the jug and put a bigger carb on it. Currently designing a 2 stroke pipe with the proper-size expansion chamber. Also shimmed the drive clutch spring about 3/4" and replaced the shives in the driven. Should run good. The kick-panel is made out of 1/2" MDF and coated on the inside with heat guard. Going to put two speakers in it as well. The old one was rusted out. I almost made another out of 20 gauge sheet metal but this will serve a better purpose. It will be covered with the same carpet as on the floor/dash. Soon it will be riding on 215/35/12's. I may eventually bag the whole cart so it will lay frame but not now as I'm on a schedule. |
