It won't turn off!!! HELP!!!
I changed the spark plugs to platinum, new Mobil 1 5w30 oil, new oil filter, new air filter with pre-cleaner, new Royal Purple SAE 30 differential oil, new fuel filter, and added carburetor cleaner to gas. It runs like a champ, but won't turn off unless I disconnect fuel line to starve it from gas now. Is this from the carb cleaner, or is it from one of the other things? I think I might need to drain fuel, and put in regular gas without it. I bought it used and thought I would give a full fluid change and that carb cleaner would be good. Maybe not!!!
I got it to stop by starving gas and checked ignition. It works fine. Starts without fuel due to stator and shuts off when key is turned off fine Did not do any of this prior to new plugs and fuel additive. Anyone ever had similar problem or know of a solution? I don't think it's the plugs. |

Solenoid or accelerator cable/pedfal/microswitch stcuked. Tap solenoid lightly. If engine stops, then the solenoid is faulty. Replace. Otherwise, follow the accelerator cable, pedal and microswitch. If its the peda, squirt some light oil. If cable or microswitch switch fault, replace.

Re: It won't turn off!!! HELP!!!
You think so? It worked fine until I put that carb cleaner in the gas. Even when I disconnect it from fuel it runs until it starves itself dry. The pedal I could see if it happened until I disconnected from fuel, but not after. I am going to try draining fuel and put in regular gas without carb cleaner and see what happens. You think solenoid could be bad and that would cause it?

Re: It won't turn off!!! HELP!!!
You have a BB so you apparently have a key start... If this is so then the micro should not come into play here. If it won't shut off with the key then you have a wiring problem somewhere. Maybe you knocked a wire off somewhere during maintenance? I think draining the gas may be a waste just by reading the symptoms you posted. Turning the key off should kill the spark signal so if the engine does not respond to the key I'd say you have a wiring issue of some sort. If it was fine before, I would think you might have knocked off or disconnected something by accident. Hope this helps.

Re: It won't turn off!!! HELP!!!
Your engine should kill with the switch. it grounds the signal wire to the coil. You have a loose wire somewhere. You can kill it by grounding the plug in the mean time.

Re: It won't turn off!!! HELP!!!
I fixed it. It was a stupid grounding wire!!! It came loose while off-roading. It was causing the ignition to not properly stop plugs from firing. Easy fix. Thanks for all the help guys. That's why forums and the people on them are the best!!!
