Question How Have you Mounted Your Winch ?

Hi All, just after some thoughts on mounting winches, feel free to post some photos and suggestions of winch set ups and placements you have.

This is how I have set mine up to be mounted so it can go on either the front or rear tow hitch receiver. I have not hard wired it so it can be put on only when I am out bush or beach

Aussie, that's about what I was planning. At least the hook it to a receiver so it can be used front or back.

My only concern was where does it go when not in use. On my workhorse under the bed there is a spot behind the back axle and in front of the rear frame. It appears to me there is space for some sort of box 18 inches wide by about 10 inches deep. Not sure how tall it will be. The frame could support the back of the box, and supports could go down from the tube framework that the bed sits on to support the front of the box.

I thought a solid box would be best to keep the mud out. And if it has a top you'd want the lid to come off rather then hinge, since there would be little space for it to open by hinge. Not sure if this is practical, just early plans up to this point.

Nice, I like a winch, that you can mount in the front, or mount in the rear

Mate you make some very good points, I have not attached (mounted ) mine as yet so have not thought it through that far, I guess in tool box in the dump bed. I bet there will be heaps of great ideas flowing through from guys that have proven and used their winches season after season.

Aussie.

I was kind of thinking a toolbox mounted in the dump bed too. But when I found all that unused space under the bed, I thought that might work out better. But as I said that's just in the planning stage, and we all know, best laid plans often go astray.

At least I was the first one that managed to work the word laid into their response.

I hear you mate, Lucky I did't put up my other post "Can anyone help me get a head" because I am chasing a 295cc head to put on my 350cc motor. Oh well at least I may have put a few smiles on some faces first up in the morning.

Just turning Midnight Down Under so it of to bed to dream of new was to mount my winch I will probably wake up to 153 other funny coments about my post but it was ment to be a serious and honest question. Hope no one gets too offended by anything I said.

Aussie, just an idea for your electrical connections: These are HD three pin push in connectors for a boat trolling motor. I bought two pair (they are cheap!), used the two females in the front and rear bumper and wired the one male to the winch. The females have covers to keep them clean.
