Re: subwoofer Bandpass or enclosed
Music preference? Band Pass is a good all-around box. Sealed will give tighter bass, more for the rock crowd. Ported is for the drawn out, long hip hop style of bass. Google Bandpass boxes. Subwoofer enclosers.com is one I have used in the past.

Yellowhorse is right, the type of music you listen to is very important on what type of enclosure is best for you. The biggest thing about a sub enclosure on a cart is that it has nothing for the sound to bounce off of. If you go with a sealed enclosure make sure to build it were it fires downward. You will get much more sound and performance out of it that way.

Re: subwoofer Bandpass or enclosed
sealed - tight, accurate, power hungry, airspace not as critical
ported - less tight, more efficient, airspace and port length are more critical, bigger box bandpass - very efficient at tuned frequency, limited frequency response, requires a BIG box, airspace and port lengths extremely critical, placement becomes critical personally, i prefer the sound of ported enclosures. -sj |

Re: subwoofer Bandpass or enclosed
Ported by all means. Single 12" in a decent box. Pick out the sub FIRST then build/order the box around the speaker requirements. The more power the better but keep it simple. You can go crazy with DVC vs single, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, 2 channel amp, 1 channel sub amp, blah blah blah. Try and plan for any add-ons later on when you buy your speakers/amps/HU. Go the Crutchfield.com and read. Shop elsewhere though as they can be expensive

Re: subwoofer Bandpass or enclosed
Just remember if you do go with a ported box that a ported box raises the effiecency of the woofer. That basically means you can reach peak performance out of the woofer with about half the power. Just Make sure to not overpower the woofer in that type of enclosure. Have you decided what type of woofer you plan to run?

Re: subwoofer Bandpass or enclosed
^^^^^True statement. Buy the sub first and match it's power requirements and box size needs
