welcome to BGW i would say most any type cart that has a real solid frame. i have seen it done in all model carts yamaha, ezgo and club car. because by the time you are done doing it you will end up changing the rearend and front end.. good luck on this and make sure you post pics when you start we all like pics here..

I agree with GP about everything he said but just wanted to add, Club Car uses an aluminum frame and unless you can Tig you will be bolting everything to it unlike all the others with steel frames.

thanks for the reply.what year did ezgo change the rear end set up from the torque convertor mounted on the pinion gear (parallel)to the differential to the belt pulley being parallel to the wheels? are these rear ends good up to say 50 hp?

I believe it was around 1990 give or take a year, when they made the change. I know of a few carts that are running those rears that prouduce more than 50hp but if your planning to gut a quad, I would be inclined to use its rearend. There have been quite a few of these carts people have put snowmobile engines in, they use the same type belt setup and can be found at very low cost on ebay. As for what model cart, I would try sticking to the 90 + Marathon based models because of the engine, rearend frame they have. (these carts are cheaper and it saves on buying/building an engine frame) This includes the GX 804 carts (utility carts), these where also branded with the Jacobsen name as GX 810 models
