I just bought a 1989 cart that when the key is turned to the "on" position, it runs (when set in Forward or Reverse...doesn't do it in Neutral). Does anyone know what would cause that to happen and how to fix it? I'd assume that it should be able to be left in the "on" position and until the accelerator is pushed it would not run. By run I mean the engine runs and the belt for what I assume to be an altenator/generator turns...cart doesn't take off until the accelerator is pushed.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Sounds like the micro-switch under the peddle, but I never changed one, guess it could be just an adjustment in the throttle linkage too,
did you try holding up on the peddle? |

Stove, on a 89 the accelerator microswitch is in the front of the engine compartment. The acc. pedal shaft come from under the car to trip the micro, behind a bracket and against the front seat wrap. Funny way to say that they hid it behind a bracket and to the left of the F/N/R board. |

Pedal micro switch for sure, but not sure Where it is on your cart. but It sounds like someone had it go bad and they just bypassed it. so anythime the key is on and in gear the motor turns over. Some people want their cart to idle when their key is on, Idunno.
