I think that 75 psi is probably all the bad news that you need. A top end overhaul kit will more than likely fix it. Reading your previous I think that this might be beyond the scope of JB Weld

JB weld was on the clutch, clutch still works fine for the second year. The engine won't start, ring, piston, or head gasket problem, nothing to do with the clutch

Yeah, that was clearly a poor attempt at humor, sorry. To answer your questions
The compression should be about 140 psi once the new rings bed in. It is normal to only get 110 ish after the rebuild but it gets tighter in the first 10 hours of running. The conventional wisdom is that the 2PG will not run if the compression gets much below 80 - 90 psi
Thank you for the nice words about my 86, it was a labor of love and I had a blast restoring it. The camo is the mossy oak breakup vinyl wrap which I got from www.everythingcarts.com, who are incidentally the best folks to deal with. The seats are the same pattern from buggies unlimited.
Good luck with your cart
Dave

just put in a new piston and rings and head gasket about a year ago. I honed the cylinder, I think it's still in spec not much wear anyway. I need to do a compression check with oil in and see if its rings. can the head be taken off with the engine in the cart on a hoist?

I squirted oil in the cylinder and the compression went down from 70 to 40 any ideas anyone. I'm tearing it down tonight.
