gas coming out of carb after some mods

lets see if i can explain whats going on and make sense of it. i changed the fuel pump, the fuel lines, the vacuum line, and the rear clutch with a 28deg. i also adjusted the gov. ran fine a day, then it started sputtering, popping, and hesitating. i pulled the air filter out and saw fuel standing in the carb with a little in the air box. i was playing in the ditch across from my house a little bit ago and it started sputtering really bad and would not come out the ditch without a rolling start. but on flat ground it will run like a bat out of hell. i did check the valves a few weeks ago and it ran fine until i changed the pump and all.

i did think about that, i was thinking about pulling the carb and spraying it down real good.

well i did a tune up on the cart, new plugs and oil. i checked the valves and they were fine. to it out for a spin and it seems to be better than it was. it ran really good for a while then started acting up again.

If the old pump still works, put it back and find out if there is no improvement. Is your new pump an OEM?

The new pump is oem. Ill try and find it and give it a try

i was doing some thinking today i put the new pump in after the new clutch thinking the original pump was going out. the new pump didnt change anything. now i have noticed that the engine is running lower rpms. could it be possible that the clutch would effect the engine rpms via the governor. i havent had time to put the original clutch back in to see if it changes anything. i do have the 350 and dont really need the 28deg clutch, just though it would help with hill climbing.

ok, i put the original pump and clutch back on today. nothing has changed. and now im blowing some some at first start up. i also noticed what sounds like a rod knocking when it first starts up. the last time i heard that noise was with the original motor that was gone. i think i was told that the bottom end was busted.

If you haven't already done so, Pull the carb and check to see if the needle and seat are ok. I've had this happen before after switching fuel pumps, the new pump was pushing out a lot more pressure(possibly a bad pump) and forced the needle off the retainer on the float, causing this type of flooding situation.
