Default 97 Gas TXT Freedom

Hi new guy here from Flordia. Just bought a Gas E-Z-GO 1997 TXT Freedom. Don't know much about these things and had a couple of questions.

From what I have read it looks like I have the 295 motor. I have not been able to find much info about this motor is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? Is there anything I should watch out for with this cart? Also where is a good place to get a service manual and parts for these.

the black plastic peice that is in between the engine block and the carburetor will have some writing on it and it should say 29 or 35 on it. 29 is a 295 and 35 is the 350. it is a 4 stroke engine

real good engine. check the intake valves if you can, they are prone to getting tight. there is a write up on this site that goes into details on checking the valves and adjusting them properly. your local ezgo dealer should be able to order you a manual if they dont have one. other than that you can look them up on shopezgo.com and there might be one there.

other than the valves check oil and air filter regularly and you shouldnt have any other problems!

One other quick question. I got all the lights working except for the brake lights. There are two wires which come off of the brake pedal and they are disconnected how can I find out where to connect these wires.

they should be connected to the brake pedal??? are they connected to the brake pedal and disconnected somewhere else???

if so where are the disconnected at??? sometimes the switch in the pedal goes bad and will stay light up, so some people will disconnect them instead of fixing the brake switch....

the wires should come from the brake pedal and then into a wire harness that goes back to the engine compartment

They are connected to the pedal and cut in the wheel well.

Are you certain the bulbs are still okay? Could be bulb problem rather than wiring.

The wires are cut. Trying to figure or which one goes to power white or black and then I can put s test light on the other wire it should light up if the switch is working.

Ok so it looks like the switch may be damaged. Has power even when the brake is not pressed.

Latest is the switch works when I take it off the pedal. When I try to put it back on it does not seem to work must be something with the way it is installed.
