Shorter drive belt - after the install
I just installed a Dayco HP3004 belt on my 87 EZ GO. That definitely wasn't a simple process. I am noticing a decent increase in power going up our steep hill. When I come down the hill (no throttle) it acts like I am slamming the brakes and then runs ok for a second and then the process repeats many times. What is going on? Is the smaller belt catching and causing it to bind up?

Re: Shorter drive belt - after the install
Welcome from down the street, Give it a chance to seat or break in, it should smooth out.
