Parking brake for EZ-GO?

Is there a way to lock the brake on when parking the cart? Our driveway is on a hill and I am afraid the kids will one day hit the gas pedal causing the brake to release and send the cart down the hill with them on it.

It would be nice if I could lock the brake on.

It should lock - if not, then your pedal assembly may be worn out or improperly adjusted...

Are you talking about, when you have your brake locked, and you push the go/gas pedal, the brake will release right?? and you don't want it to unlock?? you want it to stay locked, at all times

Probably just need to buy you a set of wheel chocks to be on the safe side,I know it would be a bit of a pain to move & place them each time but would be worth it to prevent a child from being seriously injured

How old are the children ? Mine are 11 & 14 and have been riding my carts for 3+ years now. I taught them to keep the left foot on the brake until the drive hooked up and they could safely pull away. A piece of 4" X 2" behind/ in front of the downhill wheels would be cheap insurance though.

I have a 9 and 6 year old.
Yes, when we have a bunch of people over everyone and anyone is riding the cart around the property. Thing is sometimes the kids or girls just barely apply the brake.
If kids go running or jumping on the cart they could accidentally hit the gas pedal releasing the parking brake.
It would be nice if there was another way to apply the brake that was not so easy to deactivate...like a handbrake.
We do have wheel chocks we use for our trailer. But I am sure it will be forgotten.
Maybe I should get the kind with a 3' vertical handle. That way it is obvious when it is or is not be used. ;)

Sounds like it is time for some Afro Enginering. I would find a long cable maybe one from a peddel bike shop and attach it to the existing cable. And then fab up a lever like a hand break with a hold so you can put a lock on it. Then splice into the throttle micro switch and put a dash mounted toggle switch there. That way they can press the gas and the thing wont try and fire up even with the fabed up hand break engaged.

Mabey you could get some bucket seats and the handbrake from an ST480. I am not sure how to hook it up to the brakes, but it would be a handbrake in between two seats. The reason the brake releases when you step on the throttle is because there is a linkage conected to the throttle that deactivates the parking brake. If you disconect this, the throttle will not release the brake, but it can be released by pressing the service brake.

Disconnecting the linkage that automatically releases the brake sounds like the best option. A locking bar behind the gas pedal could also work to stop the pedal being pressed by accident but you would have to remember to engage it every time.

It appears to me the best thing to do is fabricate some sort of block that will wedge behind the gas pedal. I need to make it so it locks in place but can be easily pulled out and stored in one of the cubby holes.
I am thinking if I drill a screw into both the floor and into the back of the pedal I could then use them as stops as which to place the wedge between.
The wedge could then be simply slid to either side to remove. I will probably cut 45 degree angles onto both ends of a 2x4. Or else maybe I could hinge it to the floor. But would need to develop a way to have it lock in place when elevated against the pedal.
