Default Oil pump '84 2pg

How do I check for proper operation of the oil pump on my '84? I disconnected the oil line at the carb, jacked up the rear wheels & ran the engine. No noticeable oil from the oil tubing. This was my Dad's cart & it has been sitting for more than 10 years.

TIA, Orm

Hey Cam,

Welcome to BGW!

The best thing to do is to remove the oil pump and tank fully, and go to premix.

I own a 92 E-Z-Go where the owner was using the oil pump, and ended up selling the cart to me needing a rebuild because the piston ran dry and melted the rings. Really, a leak or plug in any of the tubes, or any sort of breakdown in the pump assembly itself means you will be doing a rebuild.

welcome, yeah get rid of the pump and premix your own its much safer.....problem is if pump goes you don,t know until you blow the motor........even if you leave pump add some oil to your gas to be on safe side..........................

And to head off the next round of questions, pull the oil line at the intake elbow and make sure to plug the hole - and the ratio you need to run is 128:1 (1oz 2-stroke oil per gallon of gas, make sure to premix in a seperate can before putting it into the fuel tank, also it's a good idea to remove and flush the tank out or at least empty it prior to swapping over).

No need to do anything with the oil tank and pumnp other than remove them.
