Default 82 ezgo, Plug not getting wet, won't turn over

Hello,
Last week we had rain spell. I had my 82 2 cycle cart outside and the next day it would barely turn over. I got it to sputter a little and finally cranked up. It would go a couple of feet and turn over, again and again. I lifted the seat and looked at the carb and noticed the small bypass screw was gone. I put in a another carb that I had and made sure all the jets and everything was cleaned well. I also for the heck of it checked the fuel pump at the carb, which is pumping and I replaced the fuel filter.I then tried to crank it and it wouldnt turn over. I checked the spark and it has blue spark, which I sat on top of the muffler. I have a Mallory like coil paired with the wells dr100 ignition module also, if that matters any. I noticed when I checked the plug that it did not look wet. I was figuring it must be some kind of a gas problem, but not sure. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I am dreading the day that I ever bought this old 2 stroke

I had a problem this week after I removed the carb for cleaning. Do you have gas in the carb bowl? I was told you need to prime it when you put it back in, and that it wont prime itself. Dont know if this applies for you or not. Hopefully somebody that knows will chime in.

the fuel pump needs to be primed, but once it's pumping fuel the carb should be OK ... I'd take another good look at the carb and make sure ALL the jets are cleaned out thoroughly, there's a small jet at the bottom of the float bowl, the long main jet, and another one at the top of the carb (also wouldn't hurt to make sure the needle valve and seat are clean and not sticking, etc) ... Sounds like the spark id good, double-check the carb and let us know, we can go from there

Here's a diagram to help make sure you're hitting all the jets

When I pulled the carb out today, I sprayed it with carb cleaner all over. I sprayed it in the jets pretty good too and let it dry. I did notice that I overlooked pulling the long jet, #9 in the diagram. I will pull it back off and check it tomorrow. I was hoping that I don't have my throttle cable tightened at the wrong spot as well. I tried to tighten it back on at the spot that I remembered taking it off at.Earlier I had also put a few drops of seafoam directly into the fuel line coming into the carb in hopes that it would help if I missed something.

that "big" jet has like 6 or 8 holes, and if any one of them are plugged you'll have troubles so give it a good cleaning!

Well, I cleaned the mess out of the carb today. I took every single part out of the carb and sprayed them all with the gumout carb cleaner and let dry. I still don't seem to be getting gas to the plug. It doesn't seem to be wet at all. I checked on sparking constantly. I see sparking, but it's hard to tell how much. My engine has a little bit of a shake to it,a nd when I hold the plug to the top of the muffler it's a little hard to tell.I have been wandering if it's not consistent, and maybe it's a coil problem. For the heck of it, I have been trying to look around today for a coil to pair with my wells dr100 module. I have also checked the fuel pump again, and it seems to be pumping from the line I pulled off the carb. It seems to be a steady flow. I'm wandering if the flow is not hard enough on the fuel pump, but not sure.

try taking the plug out and spraying some carb cleaner right in on the piston put plug back in and see if it fires and runs a few seconds.......might help you save some time trying to figure if it has spark................................

I like this idea but I would do it with your regular fresh fuel mixture. Not a big deal but some of those parts/carb cleaners make nasty fumes when they burn.

Got a new Duralast coil today. It's getting spark, just still no fuel mixture. There are a couple things bugging me, like when I put the carb back together I noticed that the needle under the float was different than another carb that I had. One has the cone end up and the other has the pin end up. I don't know if it makes a difference. I put the cone end up. Also I don't really know how high the float is suppose to be. The needles in both carbs are a little different. One is a touch longer than the other. They are basically the same carbs though. One is a Thunderbolt and the other a Mizuko. I don't know how much those differences configure into getting any fuel to the plug. I have another carb that is a littler bigger and have been thinking about trying it just to rule out the carb problems. It's for a 89 I believe. I know if I kept that one I would probably need to change my muffler size I guess. I also took the fuel pump apart and saw no problems at all. Maybe I might need to just soak the carb and all the parts over night. I don't know what you guys soak them in. What's a good way to soak them?I sprayed mine down with the gumout and let it dry. I also didn't have any type of compressed air. I held the spray bottle up to each jet and sprayed the mess out of them. I thought that would be good enough, but maybe not.
