Default '07 EZ won't go up a hill

Howdy again, that right I'm a new B. posed in intro form. (Flat Creek)
I just bought a '07 EZ go. they tell me it has a 2 cylinder, 9 HP engine.
I can tell it's 2 cylinder easy enough, how do I know what engine it is?

Problem one
I live in the Texas Hill Country, my drive is rather steep. The cart won't climb the driveway? I adjusted the Gov. a little do I go more? I was warned adjusting the Gov. will make the engine backfire?
What else do ya all do the these things to modify them?
I don't care too much how fast it goes, just want it to climb trees.

Problem two
the steering shaft come apart if the suspension goes "negative" travel or to say if the suspension travels downwards. It's obvious the "slip" coupling is too short.
where do I get a longer one? so many web sites to little time!

I look forward making new friends and getting expert help.
thanks in advance.

I will tell yta what I did on my 03, 350 . I got a shorter drive belt and it helped. Do a search on here for shorter belts or belts, it should give ya some info. I know nothing about that steering stuff. good luck

thanks you 410man
I have found the same info you suggest. Haven't had a chance to look for the shorter belt.
few other things is have done so far.
I adjusted the gov. a little. it helped some
removed the factory air filter and adapted a automotive filter to the factory housing. the filter i bought actually fits right in to the housing with end cap off. it was too easy and maid the biggest difference so far. makes the engine sound totally different too.
another thing is put a bigger fuel filter on it. it had a real small filter, don't know if mad a difference to the performance but i figure it had to lower the resistance for the fuel pump? may be the pump will last a little longer?
The steering problem is being taken care of by the company I bought the cart from.
they are making me a longer coupling. an easy fix.
