Type of Gas and Oil?
I run 93 octane and Castrol GTX oil in all my vehicles and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with doing this with a 295cc Robins. I find with the higher octane fuel I've always had better gas milage and cleaner injectors. Just looking to take good care of my new toy.

Re: Type of Gas and Oil?
Running a higher octane will not keep things cleaner unless the fuel has an additive that the 87 doesn't. Only if your compression is high enough you detonate or ping a premium fuel is not needed. I would remove the fuel tank and make sure there is no residue or foreign material before using a higher grade fuel if you want to keep things running well.
Using a high quality motor oil and changing it on a regular bases will also be best. :) |

I agree about the oil. Never used anything but Castrol GTX in any motor I've owned except outboards. Have you ever used B-12 Chem Tool by Berryman? I put that in my vehicles as well with a full tank about every 3000 miles or so. It cleans the entire fuel system. I'm wondering if that would be a benefit to the Robins or be too much for it. Just looking for preventative maintenance tips. |

Re: Type of Gas and Oil?
Everyone says Seafoam or Berrymans does a good job using one half can per 4 gal tankful but I would make sure it is mixed very well and don't let the cart sit for more than a couple weeks with it in the tank. I think most fuel cleaner additives are good preventative maintenance but only really clean minimally.

Re: Type of Gas and Oil?
JMHO... I belive in useing the best gas.. use it in my cart ,in Harley Elecra Glide, weedeater lawn mower..ect... in every thing but my old truck... I love the Berrymans too ...I use it if I'am going to be go a ways like on a trip to burn it through... the only thing you wrote sbout that we can disagree on is the oil... I wouldn't put Castrol oil in anything... but that me... I use Mobil 1 in everything but my Harley and use Amsoil in it... 100% syn. oil is the only way to go in my book .... but thats just me ???

BTW I would stay away from Synthetic unless you know the piston is seated well (Has more than 50 hours on the motor w/ reg oil). You will have to re hone or re seat the piston if you glaze it with Synthetic after a fresh rebuild. |
