Found my Fuji Robin Replacement
I finally found the motor I was looking for. It's a Fuji EC25PS out of an old Polaris sled. 244cc just like the stock cart motor, but this one is about 20hp. I'll take the recoil off, and replace the clutch with mine so I can use the starter/generator. It should be interesting. And it will look pretty close to the stock motor when installed. Man, are these things hard to find!

Re: Found my Fuji Robin Replacement
I think I have the wiring figured out. This motor has points. Anyone see any issues with this circuit for the points?

You can replace the points with this if you want to upgrade.Might keep you from being stranded some day.

If I do that I'll lose the mechanical advance.

Re: Found my Fuji Robin Replacement
OK, here's a potential problem - will this engine run in reverse? Because if it doesn't, you wont have any ...

It'll run in reverse, but with limited power.

Re: Found my Fuji Robin Replacement
That's not so bad then (something about 30mph in reverse probably isn't the best plan to begin with, hahaha)
How close is the swap going to be mechanically, btw? |

Re: Found my Fuji Robin Replacement
The motor will be here Monday, so I'll have more info then. The stock marathon clutch will fit so I can use the starter/generator. Recoil is coming off. I may have a clearance issue between the front of the case and the starter, but I can mill that part of the case if needed. Not sure if the tensioner bracket needs to be modified or not. Height is good. Not sure of the angle that the motor is mounted at, but I can modify that to keep the carb level if needed. I want it to look as close to stock as possible, and keep the same clutch to clutch distance. I'm hoping that the stock exhaust tube will bolt up.
If you look at both motors, they look pretty much the same. |

That's really sweet - You'll obviously have to keep us posted on the details, etc ... Who knows, you may have found a new "Mod" for all of us old 2-smokers !!!!
