Removing/Re installing starter on an EZGO
I'm at a point after metering everything , that I may have starter issue with my '05 .
Instead of borrowing a trailer and hauling the cart to a shop, I was thinking of taking on the task of removing the starter myself if feasible for a novice mechanic and just transporting the starter to have it checked/serviced. The setup looks just like the pic attached, and the air filter box overhangs just above part of the starter. Can someone kindly walk me through removal of the starter. Thanks all |

Re: Removing/Re installing starter on an EZGO
Also, would I need to remove the breather/filter box to access the entire starter.
I can see the two nuts on the belt side, the mount, and the adjustor nut, but cant see what's on the passenger side of the starter to see if there is a mounting bolt or something there that needs to come out. Thanks for any help. Kelly |

I don't think you have to remove the air filter box for access although, it would make removing the wires and starter much easier.
Mark/tag and remove electrical connections. Back the tensioner off and remove the belt. Remove the large mounting bolt underneath the starter... Remove starter. |

Re: Removing/Re installing starter on an EZGO
Its not hard job, do as scottb said Mark all electric connections and post they hook to, it one long bolt on bottom about 11 inches long, hardest part when re install is getting bolt holes to line up if you alone, if have helper to help hold no problem, PS put some wd40 on bolt threads before put back on it will make easier to tighten.
there is ways to check starter in the stickey section or do a Search for starters for the info. I have a starter / gen U can get at a good price, its used but works the brushes are 1/4 long. |

Re: Removing/Re installing starter on an EZGO
The bare wire that connects to the A1 terminal has two ring terminal connectors...a short one that connects to the starter/gen A1 terminal.
Where does the 2nd (longer) wire & ring connector attach. |
