Default Help me determine what model this Cart is. I want to Part it MODDED PICTURE LOOK

I bought this cart last year and thought I STOLE it for $2000. I got it home and 30 minutes of cruising around the neighborhood it stopped working. Initially I thought it was gas. No Go. Then I started chasing electrical with first replacing all wiring with new OFC, replaced the solenoid, and lastly spent over $200 having the starter/generator rebuilt at a Yamaha dealer. None of this worked. I eventually took the cart to a local "mechanic" of small engines and he determined the top end needed to be replaced? He did a rebuld and replaced the head. $700 later cart is back on the road. I take it to my first camping trip which is why I bought it, and needless to say the CA Park ranger informed me I needed to make it street legal. I have now decided it might be worth more to part. Looking for your feedback. If I can part this thing and get $1500 out of it I will take my loses and run. Here is what I think has value.
Motor, trans, all electrical, stereo system, wheels, interior, body/roll cage. Here are pictures as of today. What do you think

you have a pre 89 marathon with a txt or medalist frt. end. if it is plastic, then it has a txt frt. dang shame to part it out, thats a good looking cart. i think i would figure out how to make it street legal. there are many kits. don't think you will get your money back in parts.

Where are you at? I would be interested in a piece of that. If you decide to part her out. But if it were me. I would put a light kit on it. I just bought my cart last week and I am looking to make it street legal.

Thanks guys. On top of making it street legal, it is also a pain to move around all the time. I never realized how big it was until it came home. I am in Northern Ca.

PM me if you decide to part it out - shipping is probably going to be a KILLER but I might be interested in the top and struts as well as the front end if we could work it out, possibly some other stuff too

Yeah thats not going to happen. You would be better off flying out and driving it home. I say this laughing only because the top is really a full roll bar with a bimini top and the front is one solid piece. I cant see the body being worth more then $500.

yeah, I actually called Watkins (I have an account with them) and it would almost be easier to just skid up the entire cart, LOL - I like that roll cage a lot, though, dangit :)

Would you be willing to maybe snap some decent pics for me of the way they attached the TXT cowl to the Marathon body? If I can't buy yours. it might help me decide if it's worth the hassle to try doing it myself ...

Sure I can. The more I think about this, I wonder if I could get anything for the motor and trans and just swap in a nasty motor.

You might want to take a little time over in the "Big Block" section of the forums, there's a ton of info on those swaps ... Harbor Freight actually sells a 16hp Honda "clone" dirt cheap (don't quote me but I want to say around $169) that is a relatively popular and common swap (although youll be looking at a new clutch and some welding too, it's definitely not a bolt-in) .... considering that little 2PG you've got in there develops a whopping 9hp at redline, you'll definitely notice the difference if you do a swap.

I'd really appreciate the pics - Thanks !!! (and if you have a number on the motor, PM me - I actually know a guy here in WI looking for a 2PG engine, maybe the whole thng could work out for all)
